Jack Ryan Put On Ice As Chris Pine Heads For Star Trek 2
Paramount Pictures have put their long-gestating plans to resurrect Jack Ryan in the tentatively titled Moscow on hold for the time being, while Chris Pine resumes his duties as Captain of the USS Starship Enterprise in Star Trek 2.
The studio had hoped to get the film off the ground prior to the Enterprise’s second big screen voyage in the reinvigorated series, particularly when they hired “Clear and Present Danger” scribe, Steve Zaillian to rewrite the script last month. However the spit-and-polish job required to get the script up to scratch is taking far too long and everyone’s favourite starship is looming like the proverbial weight around the neck.
Deadline report that Paramount have opted to set phasers to stun first, and ask questions about the Jack Ryan reboot later. However there is some good news for Ryan fans, “Lost” helmer Jack Bender is still on board to direct the picture,»
