Zach Galifianakis Withdraws from R.I.P.D. Adaptation
Just two months after Zach Galifianakis joined Ryan Reynolds on the cast of director Robert Schwentke's planned follow-up to Red, R.I.P.D., Deadline has reported that Galifianakis has withdrawn from the comic book adaptation because of scheduling issues. The movie is based on the comic book of the same name by writer Peter Lenkov and artist Lucas Marangon and follows a murder victim (Reynolds) who agrees to work for the police force of the afterlife, the Rest in Peace Department (R.I.P.D.)., for 100 years in exchange for the chance to find his killer. Galifianakis would have played Reynolds' partner, an agent of R.I.P.D. since the 1800s. Deadline did not mention if any other actors were being considered for the part.
