Exclusive: Joe Dante on 'The Best of Trailers from Hell!' Volumes 1 and 2
While we're waiting for the U.S. release of Joe Dante's latest feature The Hole, we can at least take comfort knowing the genre auteur's Trailers from Hell! is still going strong. The web series, which features Dante and many of his fellow filmmakers offering commentary on trailers for some of the coolest (and, in some cases, most overlooked) films of all time, was recently collected on Shout Factory's The Best of Trailers from Hell!: Volume 1. Well worth your time and dough (Edgar Wright's commentary on Corruption alone is priceless), this disc proves the series' credo that "Any movie can be great in 2 Ѕ minutes." George Clooney To Produce And Possibly Direct Film About The Tarp Bailouts
George Clooney has never been one to hide his politics. From films like Good Night and Good Luck to Syriana to even the movie he's working on now (which is basically about Howard Dean's 2004 Democratic primary campaign), Clooney has never been coy about which party he votes for come election day. That in mind, it's fairly easy to figure out why he'd be interested in this new project.Variety reports that Clooney has signed on to produce and may direct a new movie about the Tarp bailouts. Based on a 2009 Washington Post article titled "The $700 Billion Man," the story is about Neel Kashkari, who developed the deal to bail out the big banks alongside Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson after the economic collapse in 2008.
