Sony To Co-Finance And Distribute Bond 23 And 24
In 2006 and 2008, respectively, MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment teamed up to release the two most recent installments of the James Bond franchise: Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The two films would up being the two most successful box office smashes in the history of the series, both raking in nearly $600 million worldwide. With the next 007 film ready to start up at the end of the year, still titled Bond 23, MGM has been searching for a distributor, and it appears that the philosophy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" lives on.A press release has been issued announcing that MGM and Sony have struck a deal in which the companies will work together to co-finance and distribute not only Bond 23, but Bond 24 as well. Sidney Poitier to Be Honored by Film Society of Lincoln Center, Star Presenters
The Film Society of Lincoln Center will present Sidney Poitier with the 38th Annual Chaplin Award on May 2. The list of presenters set to honor Poitier includes Ben Kingsley, Bill Cosby, Chris Tucker, Dan Aykroyd, Danny Glover, Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones, Lulu, Mary Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, Norman Jewison, Quincy Jones, Quentin Tarantino and Ruby Dee. Clips from Poitier's film and television career highlights will be screened during the event.
