Could Scorsese And De Niro Reteam On The Comedian?
It's been more than a decade since Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese last teamed up for a film, when they made 1995's Casino, but they've been teasing us for nearly as long about joining forces again. For a long time we assumed their next project together would be The Irishman, based on the novel I Heard You Paint Houses; as recently as last March De Niro teased the project, which would also feature Joe Pesci and Al Pacino. But now Showbiz 411 has gotten wind of an entirely different project that could bring Scorsese and De Niro back together, and one that isn't reminiscent of their Mob-tinged work but of 1982's The King of Comedy.They hear that De Niro is a big fan of a script from Art Linson called The Comedian, about an insult comic described as "sort of like Don Rickles meets Joan Rivers."
