Warner Bros. Acquires Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes
Warner Bros., more than any of the other major studios, is making serious plays at dominance in the realm of digital distribution. In February, they were the first studio to offer "App Editions" of their movies on iPad, iPhones, and iPod Touch. The following month they offered their movies for rental via Facebook. Now the company has sent out a press release announcing that they've bought social networking site Flixster, which in turn means they've bought critic aggregator Rotten Tomatoes since Rt was bought by Flixster last January.So why did Warner Bros. buy Flixster? Because it's yet another platform Warner Bros. can use to distribute their movies digitally. Danny Elfman To Once Again Reteam With Tim Burton To Score 'Frankenweenie'
Look at those two young dudes. Bet they didn't realize at the time that they would both travel through the industry together rising to the top of their respective fields, with Tim Burton one of a handful of name brand directors working today and Danny Elfman as one of the most distinctive composers on the block. Through all the shifts and tides of Hollywood, Burton and Elfman stuck together working together on every one of the director's films except for "Ed Wood" and "Sweeney Todd" and they're not about to change up that dynamic anytime soon.
