Adam Sandler — Hollywood’s Highest-grossing Comedian
Adam Sandler may win little respect from critics for his films and overseas moviegoers have yet to cotton on to his brand of comedy, but studio executives have got to be impressed with his ability to sell tickets domestically — especially now that his latest movie, Just Go With It, has become the 12th Sandler movie to gross more than $100 million. Sony estimated that the film wound up the weekend with $100.3 million. The Los Angeles Times pointed out today (Monday) that no other comedian has been so successful at the box office — not even close. Of 14 Sandler movies released since 2000, it observed, only two, 2009′s Funny People and 2004′s Spanglish, failed to earn $100 million. His closest rival is Eddie Murphy, who has appeared in nine live-action films that topped $100 million. However, the Times observed, most of those were released more than a decade ago. »

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner Talks X-men Sequels, The Wolverine, and Deadpool
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner has been with the X-Men franchise from the beginning and she knows all of the ins and outs of its various sequels, prequels, and spin-offs. In the latest issue of Empire, she provides updates on future X-Men films, Deadpool, and The Wolverine. Speaking about the core franchise, Donner explains that the upcoming prequel X-Men: First Class doesn't mean we're done with X-Men films set in the present day:"We took the treatment to Fox and they love it… And X4 leads into X5,"Of course, a treatement is a long way from anything substantive happening on the sequels and it will be interesting to see how Fox proceeds based on the box office for First Class.
