Keanu Reeves Ditches Live-Action 'Akira' Remake
You mean he can dodge movie offers?
Yes, Keanu Reeves can do a lot of things, but apparently one thing he doesn't want to do is ride that futuristic motorcycle into the Hughes Brothers' live-action spin on the '80s Anime milestone "Akira" for Warner Bros.
Brad Pitt, James Franco, Ryan Gosling, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake, Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield, James McAvoy, Zac Efron, and a partridge in a pear tree have all at one point or another been in discussion to star in the film, and now, according to JoBlo, Reeves passing may have dealt a serious blow to the production.
Despite recently appointed screenwriter Steve Kloves' attempts to age-up the lead bike gang characters of Kaneda and Tetsuo, the studio has put a halt to pre-production development and sent most of the staff packing. Although this sounds like it might spell»

While Natalie Portman earned critical praise and heaps of awards for Darren Aronofsky's psychological thriller Black Swan last year, her work in Don Roos' limited release drama The Other Woman (available on DVD today from Mpi Home Video) went largely overlooked.
